This week the J-N-T team stumbled upon a hidden treasure of Tally's local businesses. We were invited to a Jewelry Soiree thrown by Fierce MBoutique, hosted by a friend that stays nearby. Soothing Jazz beats filled your ears and tasty treats tantalized your tongue upon entry. The real stars of the evening however were the stunning jewelry pieces that were for sale. Everything from necklace and earring sets to rings, in fun and beautiful styles and colors, all for affordable prices. We got a chance to sit down with the owner, Ms. Chathya Chandler, for a quick chat about her up-and-coming business.
What inspired you to start this company?
I love fashion and I felt like there was a void in the area for quality fashion jewelry. Growing up here there wasn't a lot other than the mall and you know the mall has stylish stuff but its not always whats trendy. And if you do find something you like then there's a chance that everyone else has it on. So out of a love for fashion and a love of entrepreneurship I decided to take a chance and start up my business. And so far so good, I've been getting great responses.
How often do you have these Open House Jewelry Soirees?
I don't do them as often as I'd like, since they're supposed to be my main selling platform, but I would like to start doing them weekly. I'm hoping as more customers become aware of the business and the brand, I'd have them a few times during the week. Eventually I would like this to be my full-time job so I can quit my day-job.
If someone hears about your jewelry, through word of mouth, and you don't have a Jewelry Soiree coming out soon, how can they get in touch with you to order something?
We have a Facebook page right now that has pictures of all of our jewelry organized. And thats http://www.facebook.com/fiercemboutique, and all of the jewelry is there. There's an order form called Wufoo that's a link on the left-hand side of the page, and that has all of our jewelry that's in stock. They can just submit the order form, it will send me a notification then I will send them a Pay-Pal invoice. Once they pay the invoice I'll ship out their purchases.
If someone wanted to host a Jewelry Soiree, what would they have to do?
They can message us on Facebook or they can call me. The business phone number is 850-329-0348. Or they can email us at fiercemboutique@yahoo.com and they can schedule a jewelry soiree.
So if you had to pick a favorite piece right now, which one would it be?
My favorite piece is actually LaToya's favorite, this big purple cluster necklace. I really love that necklace right now. I got the blue one first, but I'm not really blue person, but I'm in love with the purple cluster piece.
What would you say characterizes your personal style?
Trendy and Bold. I love bold statement pieces. That's where a lot of the inspiration came from because I love bold pieces but they are very hard to find here. What really made me realize this is when the paparazzi or basketball earrings craze hit. It was so hard to find them here in Tallahassee because the real earrings are like $40-$80 a pair. And they aren't necessarily quality; I have a friend that has a pair and pretty much they just painted a pair of hoops black. And you can see where the black paint is starting to wear off. And for $40 to $80, that's a lot of money and its not quality. So that's really...What was the question again [laughs] So yeah I love statement pieces. I love to be bold and stand out. I like classic pearls and simple necklaces too, but I love statement pieces.
Okay thank you for letting us get this interview.
Thank you guys!
