First Friday

Tallahassee offers many relaxing outdoor, nature filled spots when you're trying to get away, but what about within the city? The February the J-N-T team went to the monthly First Friday Gallery Hop at Railroad Square Art Park.

Every first Friday of the month Railroad Square Art Park showcases a lot of local Tallahassee talent. From Vintage Shops to Yoga Centers to countless Art Galleries, First Friday has something for everyone. As you walk around the square you're greeted with friendly faces and savory aromas from food trucks and local restaurants. Its a fun place to take your family, or your friends or just walk around on your own.

As you enter the park you are faced with many peculiar and artistic sculptures lining the entrance. The first stop for the J-N-T team was some vintage shopping at The Other Side vintage store. Needless to say, we had a lot of fun playing dress up.

After our trip back in time, we made it back to the present and checked out some of the art galleries. The showcased work ranged from the very realistic to the very abstract; the conventional to the just plain weird; photography to comic book art. All of the pieces were quite visually stimulating.

In addition to the art galleries we were sure to stop by many of the small shops along the way. First Friday is not only a place to get your art and vintage shop fix, it also showcases many of the local music artists. The entire square is filled with the sounds of different bands playing to their hearts' content, all for our enjoyment. We took some time to stop and listen to a really nice Jazz band as the played. Here's a little taste of what we heard.

Whether its for a taste of art, music food or some shopping, First Friday is definitely a must see if you are in Tallahassee. The next session is on the 2nd of March. If you have some free time go check it out!
