The tools for this project are pretty simple depending on the type of hanger you want to make. There is one option to take a frame or shadowbox and then put knobs to hang the necklaces with shelves for rings and the like. However, I felt like this way was less expensive and when I move out all I need to get rid of it would be to get some caulk (again pretty cheap) and re-paint. So I used a pre-cut PVC pipe from Home Depot and got some hooks from there as well. Now the type of hook depends on what you want your hangers to look like. I was playing with getting a hat/coat hook but after talking with my dad and comparing prices, it was better for me to just get the two pack of outdoor metal hooks.
Now you can keep everything in its original color but I didn't want to see the barcode on the pipe so I got some Aubergine spray paint. Even though its been raining all day I'm so glad for the balcony that I could spray paint and let them dry without having to smell it all day.
I love this color so much! |
After letting everything dry I used a Level app on my phone to find the correct placement of the hooks. The hooks that I bought had screws on the end so assembly was just screwing them into the walls. I personally didn't use plastic anchors but for those people who have just drywall and don't want to try and find studs then I'd recommend finding some if you have a lot of stuff to hang. Once each of the hooks were in place I just separated my necklaces and jewelry and put the pipes on their hangers. VoilĂ
That was Part II.....stay tuned for the final piece of my DIY Vanity Wall
